At the time, it was -- and still is -- a truly crowning achievement in cinema; thanks in whole due to its imagery and its acting, especially from Janet Gaynor. It succeeds on its ability to communicate the emotions we experience; guilt, love, happiness, sadness, lust, jealousy, et cetera.
