Review of Sunrise (1985) by Guy D — 14 Nov 2007
Murnau had already directed Nosferatu in 1922 by the time he embarked on this masterpiece (his first time with a Hollywood studio). One of the greatest films of the silent era, Sunrise is both a technical and artistic miracle.
Art Direction was by Rochus Gliese and was years ahead of it's time with incredible forced perspective sets for the city tram scenes, children were used in the background to complete the illusion of scale.
