Dr Daniel Hirsch (Peter Finch) and Alex Greville (Glenda Jackson) are both deeply in love, not with each other, but with one Bob Elkin (Murray Head). Their lives are followed for a few days; such a disastrous triangle may, one suspects, not lead to all-round happiness.
Jackson and Finch gave especially good performances, and the child actors were also excellent although, surprisingly, most of them did not go on to acting careers.
