Review of Summer Palace (2006) by Nicholas S — 04 Apr 2008

Interesting period piece during the TienAnMen Square revolt. While the movie does not really go in to the reasons for it, it is interesting to see the comparison of Chinese college students protesting for Democracy and the German students protesting for Communism later in the film.

But for an interesting insight on the time, the "Making of" gives a unique glimpse, while this story is more of a soap opera. Hao Lei was brilliant in this film.
