Saturday Night Fever is a pretty dark film and a much better one than you might think. That film and this one define a period of late 70's New York in a way that no others have done. I first caught this by accident on late night TV and thought it quite breathtaking.
I had no idea it was a Spike Lee film at the time. Kudos to all concerned.
