Spike Lee attempts to direct Italian American thriller in this take on the story of David Berkowitz (not Italian), the infamous Son of Sam, who in the late '70s killed a bunch of people in New York.

The Italian cast in this seem to be kind of embarrassed at saying stereotyped lines and banter which makes them sound like rejects from a troupe of Godfather or My Cousin Vinny impersonators . Lee has done better movies.

It is weird here that his actual Italian cast acts like this, and distracts from the movie. The killer isn't the theme, the racist and foul mouthed dudes are. Uh, wasn't this about the killer? And his shameless cameo as a reporter is really lame.

The movie just didn't draw interest and it was distracting all the way through.
