Review of Summer Hours (2008) by Odiseo O — 11 Jul 2009
In its modesty, this latest film from Olivier Assayas - a French "family melodrama" about three adult siblings struggling over family legacy and the waning ties that bind is a fine wine indeed.
at first, its depth and quality unappreciated before the tres bourgeois veneer and only finally discerned as the last frame unveiled itself. fine performances all around with props to charles berling who plays the sensitive eldest son.
this is the alternative "summer" film to watch :).
