Review of Sully (2016) by David C — 21 Nov 2016
Clint Eastwood continues his trend of focusing on real heroic American figures of the modern era. Here, focus is on Sully, the pilot of the incredible Hudson River incident. Tom Hanks is as enigmatic and watchable as ever, and the execution of focal centre piece, along with the surrounding deconstruction of the court case is captivating in parts.
However, there is always the air of predictability and TV movie of the week feel; it seems like it was a safe choice for Eastwood, and it shows. Maybe he should aim for something edgier and challenging for his next project.
