Review of Sully (2016) by Adam M — 20 Dec 2016
Clint Eastwood's newest directed film is Sully starring Tom Hanks as Captain Sullenberger aka "Sully". Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight) and Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad) also appear in the film and all three are great.
First, let's talk about the airplane crashing sequences. The way the film chose to show the plane landing on the Hudson (From Helicopters, Boat Rescue, and Skyscraper windows) were amazing. It all looked incredible and from what I hear they used a real plane for certain shots which certainly translates to the intensity of the landing scenes.
Without spoiling anything, my one complaint that made it not a 5 star movie were two things: 1. The flashbacks to younger Sully jumbled the film a bit. 2. Tom Hank's Sully experiences nightmares and PTSD symptoms throughout the film but it was never followed up in the conclusion of the film.
Anyway the film is a sold retelling of the Miracle of the Hudson and deserves a 4/5 and a possible Oscar nomination for Hanks.
