Review of Sully (2016) by Alec B — 21 Dec 2016
The film's straightforward simplicity is its strongest asset. Eastwood is constantly downplaying sequences that you'd expect to be bombastic and manipulative. Heroics aren't being celebrated here, instead quiet dignity and professionalism take center stage.
This makes "Sully" something of an outlier in it's genre and Eastwood's best movie in years.
