Review of Sully (2016) by Aïko G — 15 Jan 2017
Sully is a drama that tells an unbelievable story and delivers an overall ok movie. We see the story of an experienced airplane captain who performs an emergency landing with an Airbus on a river. Even more impressive is that everyone survives.
The movie goes between the actual events of the crash landing and the aftermath. It was unique to see what happened after the incident, from overwhelming media attention to investigations by the insurance companies.
Tom Hanks lifts this movie up and should receive most credit here, his way of playing a hero who is on the brink of mental breakdown works really well. The only thing I didn't like was the constant overly emotional tone of this movie.
From beginning until the end, it was always there and it was too much.
