Review of Sully (2016) by Hazzagalla — 13 Sep 2016
There can be no doubt that Sully's actions were an incredible achievement. The true definition of a hero, saving the lives of 155 passengers on board the unfortunate aircraft. The performances in the movie are all spot on, especially Tom Hanks who is superb.
You can really feel the chemistry between Sully and his co-pilot during the investigation processes. The different perspectives of the incident and the terrifying hallucinations Sully has after the crash are quite eye-catching.
A few things unfortunately stood out like a sore thumb. The painfully obvious CGI plane, some unnecessary side plots and the biggest one of all, the editing. I understand why this may not be a problem to some In some scenes it works, but in others, it just feels choppy and confusing cutting backwards and forwards from the past and present.
In conclusion though, Sully is definitely a solid movie, despite its minor problems.
