Review of Sully (2016) by Winging_Away — 08 Sep 2016
My husband and I got to see a media screening of this a few days before it released to the general public. (On September 7) It was very, *very* well attended by many pilots (myself and my husband included) and various others in the aviation industry. All the folks that I have talked to like it very much. I think this movie was actually very well done. I think, since it was so recent and many of us still remember seeing news footage and listening to the actual recordings from the cockpit and ATC, there's not much over-the-top Hollywood style embellishment that they could do. That's just my opinion, though. I think it was a very good movie and well worth it to go check it out.
The one thing I will say, however, is that the movie tends to demonize the FAA investigators, and although sometimes it may feel like they are out to get us when/if we ever come under the microscope, they are simply doing their jobs and trying to rule out every single possibility and/or impossibility. When bad situations happen, their job is to get to the bottom of it and make sure it never happens again. So keep that in mind when you see this movie.
