Review of Sully (2016) by Patricia W — 07 Oct 2017
Sully is a biographical depiction of Chelsey Sullenberger's famous emergency landing on New York's Hudson river in 2009. Tom Hanks, as always, is fantastic as Sully and really adds some weight and depth to the film in his portrayal of a regular guy who's skill and quick thinking saved many lives.
The film as a whole is entertaining and appropriately tense when depicting the crash and the panic of the survivors escaping the plane and Clint Eastwood has made a lovely tribute to an everyday hero.
However, the film struggles a little to fill 96mins and as we are all aware of the outcome of the crash there is little they can do to intrigue or surprise the audience. Overall, it's an enjoyable movie but perhaps would have been better suited for a TV movie rather than a feature length film.
