Review of Sully (2016) by Movie M — 24 May 2017
What I liked most about "Sully" is how far it was willing to push itself, in the sense that it didn't go for a chronological sequence of events, but it went back and forth, and still managed to keep its plot clear and concise.
With each flashback, I knew exactly what was going on, and even though I knew what was going to happen in the flashback before it actually did, the suspense was still there, and the intensity of the scenes were still able to build up.
A lot of that was due to the great acting of Tom Hanks (Chelsey "Sully" Sullenberger), and also Aaron Eckhart (Jeff Skiles), who had great chemistry and made every scene they were in a lot better.
There is a lot of technical plane talk, it's actually one of the main parts of this movie, so if you really hate planes or engineer-type of talk while trying to enjoy the movie, that might harm your experience a little bit, but it won't ruin the movie for you.
From start to finish, this movie took an event that only took up about 5 minutes seconds of screen-time, and dragged it out to a full movie, without making the pacing seem slow and boring, and for that I have to give "Sully" the praise it deserves.
This movie is a well put together homage to a miracle of an event, and "Sully" is definitely worth watching.
