Review of Sullivan's Travels (1941) by James G — 10 Jan 2008
Veronica Lake is hardly the world's most versatile actress, but she is very well used here, in this somewhat cynical, misanthropic, satirical screwball romantic comedy. Fans of the Coen Brothers' "O Brother Where Art Thou" may find this insightful viewing.
A good primer for anyone interested in sampling the flavour and intelligence of Hollywood filmmaking during the troubled times of WW2.
