Review of Sukiyaki Western Django (2007) by Kevin D — 30 Nov 2008
Director, Takashi Miike, obviously impressed by Kill Bill (and rightly so), took his Tarantino fan-dom to the next level by making the blunder of giving Quentin Tarantino a significant role in this Kill Bill-meets-spaghetti-western film.
Aside a from a few impressive scenes involving highly stylized gunplay and swordplay, there are few things more excruciating than listening and watching Tarantino transition from talking with a terribly fake Southern accent to a terribly fake Southern-Japanese-English accent.
While the actors in this film are speaking "English," you're going to need to turn on the subtitles. Trust me.
