Review of Sukiyaki Western Django (2007) by Perry C — 04 Dec 2008

It's a fun movie and had it been directed by anyone else, I would have given it a higher rating. But I've come to expect a lot more from Miike. Here he had a chance to combine Leone with Kurosawa and toss in a hefty dose of Tarantino/Rodriguez as well as stamping his own signature on it, but he failed to deliver.

I had really high hopes for this, a movie with this concept had the potential to be every bit as good as Ichi The Killer or Full Metal Yakuza.
