Review of Sukiyaki Western Django (2007) by Laura W — 24 Jan 2009
The action is awesome, the scenery terrific, and the acting... well its just mediocre.
But god the movies a mess. Scenes are blandly scattered everywhere, the characters completely uninspired, and random attempts at moving a story along fail utterly. even a cameo from Quentin Tarantino does little to change it.
This is a good attempt from Miike at paying homage to veteran Western directors like Sergio Leone, but its lack of a good story make there little else to offer, aside from the cool gunfights.
And a sidenote, its really kind of annoying listening to these Japanese actors speak English. I would have prefered it in Japanese.
