Review of Sukiyaki Western Django (2007) by William S — 23 May 2009
Miike's first language speaking film with an all Japanese cast, with the expecption of Quintien Tarantino, in another exaggerating acting attempt (He's better behind the camera than he is in front).
The movie is another variation of Yojimbo, with a blanch B-Movie taste. Miike has taken every Western Cliche and threw in a blend of his own dark sense of humor and style of violence. Not for everyone, only for the gore buffs and Miike fans.
A brutal and at times entertaining take on the Spaghetti western.
