Review of Sukiyaki Western Django (2007) by Erin L — 21 Sep 2009
I've seen a handful of mike's films and am basically neutral on alot of them, but this one I found to be entertaining. in seeing the preview, I thought quentin tarantino would have a larger role in it, but regardless, I liked it.
the entire idea of a Japanese western is simply amazing, and the 'slight' modernization of the idea is brilliant and executed quite well. there is, of coures, the usual 'fucked-up-ness' as my boyfriend would call it as well.
one thing that's really fun about this film is the style in which it's filmed. one shot may have one angle with a reddish tint saturation and the following shot will be completely different. despite the variety, though, it's very pleasing to the eye and adds some depth to the characters and situations.
