Review of Suicide Squad (2016) by Arthur R — 29 Jun 2018
At this point, the DC Universe feels like a series of missed opportunities. Man of Steel was good, but could have been great, BvS should have been epic, but was hamstrung by stupid plot devices. Suicide Squad was primed to be the fun, wacky thrill ride to rival Marvels lighter style and it does have some really good points.
.. Margot Robbie is flawless as Harley Quinn (and has become a cultural icon), the fact that she hasnt been given a stand-alone film is insanity. Diablo and Boomerang are decent too... however, Leto's Joker is truly awful (and way too serious in the role), Will Smith phones it in as Deadshot and Killer Croc is nowhere near as scary or intimidating as he should be.
The villain is one-dimensional and the plot a bit numb. I expected much better.
