Review of Suicide Squad (2016) by Ara A — 29 Apr 2017
Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn was absolutely the highlight of the film for me. LOVED her.
Biggest surprise? Actually enjoyed Will Smith as Deadshot. Hated that casting when I heard it but he flipped me around. Some badass shooting scenes too.
Jared Leto's Joker... Interesting. Very different than what we've seen on screen before. Loving the potential for future films, but his presence (as short as it was) felt kinda forced. I did enjoy him with Harley, just felt not enough of him on screen.
Now for the first problem, those were the only characters I actually really CARED about. Probably because they got all the quality character development. The rest of the cast? Pretty good but not enough development to really care for them. Killer Croc I hated hahaha and Enchantress started out good but went to zero with the quickness.
Did it have more issues? Yes. Weird pacing and cuts, weak plot, and a poor villain.
Overall though, found it WAY more enjoyable than BvS and X-Men Apocalypse.
