Review of Suicide Squad (2016) by Kromez7 — 08 Aug 2016
A fun, superhero summer blockbuster. Margot Robbie's performance as Harley Quinn stole the show and was very true to the character. Will Smith was also, surprisingly, very good as Deadshot! Jared Leto, unfortunately, was not good as the Joker.
He was too weird, and yes, I know the Joker is weird. He just felt like the wrong type of weird. He also cared WAY too much! The Joker is supposed to be the prime example of an abusive boyfriend to Harley and has no problem with Harley getting hurt or even dying.
In "Suicide Squad" he felt very romanticised. Also, the conflict that the squad was supposed to combat was too large of a force, bringing into question why the established superheroes aren't intervening.
That's how big the problem was. Simply the Suicide Squad is supposed to save the world, which makes you wonder, "Why isn't Batman or the Flash running across this? Did they take the night off?" And the rest of the members of the Suicide Squad: Killer Croc, El Diablo, Capt Boomerang, and Katana had basically no development.
All the focus was on Harley and Deadshot. All in all: very fun, great performances (excluding Leto), poor writing and story. Definitely recommend if you like superhero/action movies.
