Review of Suicide Squad (2016) by Batman_Robin — 03 Sep 2017
Going in, I really had hope. Though I love Marvel movies, I am more of a DC Comics fan. This movie does not in any way do the comics justice. The first section of the movie seemed well done, even though the introductions of the characters seemed a little rushed.
However, once the action of the movie and the main plot came around, that was the turning point. Usually, we are supposed to know the motives and, if not sympathize, but understand a little of what the characters are about, and why they are here.
I can understand why Deadshot needed to make his daughter proud, but I found that I was frequently asking myself why some of the other members were even there. Moreover, I felt that Enchantress was really tacked on and it seemed to me like she was only there because they needed Superman level villain for the movie.
Overall, this movie is lost in the goals to compete with Marvel and set up some more characters, instead of worrying about the plot and character development.
