Review of Suicide Squad (2016) by Scotty W — 06 Jun 2017

The problem I've been having with Suicide Squad is that for about 9 months, I was incredibly excited for it to come out; every trailer they released was tighter, funnier, more kickass than the previous one. And then, rumors started spreading, followed by trade reports...followed by studio and filmmaker statements....so with each came an inescapable sense of worry...maybe this sure-to-be knockout hit wasn't quite so sure as previously believed.

2 nights ago, I watched this film. What I saw in theaters was not at all the film I had been prepared for with each trailer; disappointingly, the film departs massively from them in tone and technique. I will refrain from listing the remainder of my problems with the film because they are many. My thoughts and wishes are with the cast and crew, who I'm sure had the time of their lives; unfortunately, I cannot say the same.
