Review of Suicide Kings (1997) by Manly D — 25 Apr 2008
It's a movie about a group of high society rich boys who kidnap a mob kingpin in retaliation to the kidnapping of the sister of one of them, and fiance of another. They need $2 million to get the girl back, so they have the mobster pay for it. The mobster, however, starts to turn the boys against each other in this funny, yet dramatic, story.
First, the movie has Christopher Walken, so how could it be bad? His portrayal of mob boss Carlo Bartalucci was spectacular. Then there's Dennis Leary was in one of his best big-screen roles in this movie as Bartalucci's enforcer with $1500 stingray boots. The cast is rounded out by a bunch of fairly well respected young actors including Sean Patrick Flannery, Henry Thomas, and Jay Mohr.
The movie was a comedic drama mystery of sorts, and pulled off this odd combination fairly well.
