Review of Suicide Club (2001) by Michael C — 03 Jun 2009
One of the most powerful opening sequence to a movie I have ever seen! Fifty four school girls throwing themselves under a speeding train...woww!
'Disconnection' is the key word I would choose to describe this film and it clearly highlights the social issues of Japan.
Most people won't understand or appreciate the movie but if you watch it from a Japanese point of view, then the film makes perfect sense! Symbolisms, references and a meaning are aplenty - also listen to the lyrics of the song that's played throuought the film!
