Review of Suicide Club (2001) by Ian S — 08 Aug 2008
I feel conflicted about this film. After the first scene with the train, I jokingly said "The End!" I kind of wished it was. The movie seems more like a delightfully perverse and surreal romp with a cool mystery story behind it.
Instead, I got this depressing movie that parallels a sobering mystery and suspenseful thriller. Towards the end, to add a spice of confusion, we throw in the Genesis character with The Bat and finally the story about the girl with the butterfly tattoo.
The enjoyed the movie a lot until the last 20 minutes or so. Then it just got progressively more and more confusing. At the end I had no choice but to sit there and go "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa?..." I don't know how I feel about this film.
