Review of Suicide Club (2001) by Steve Z — 11 Jan 2010
Terrible. Sure, perhaps I didn't pay attention as much as I should have, but it was boring and cheeky and lame. It threw stuff at you out of nowhere and there was absolutely no foundation for the teens committing suicide.
I leave out a spoiler alert because there's nothing to spoil. People die and for no reason. And much to the shagrin of Fear.Com lovers, this movie incorporates a silly website with dots to add another layer of mystery.
With no resolution to anything and forcing me to watch some flamboyant freak prancing around, once more for no reason, I wag my finger. If there was just rationale for events and goings-on, that's all I ask.
Is that too much? Boo, boo to you all people who think that stuff coming from Japan is inherently better than American things. Virtually every movie I've seen has proven that false. If you want to stake claim to a country to undyingly devote yourself to, pick Spain, and even then, don't just go by a country of origin, it's lame and passe.
