Review of Sugar Town (1999) by Liz C — 17 Mar 2008
This is a very personal favourite but despite some dodgy old rockers trying to act the script makes up for it 10 times over - its full of cliches but when you work in the music industry you begin to realise they are not cliches - its the reality of this business.
Very few movies manage to spoof the record business without seeming cheesy & uninformed but you can tell the writer / director used to work for a major label - John Taylor (yes-from Duran Duran-he is really good in it) has some excellent lines to deliver as does real life aging rocker in recovery Michael Des Barres - still a little gem I reckon.
