Review of Sugar (2008) by Scott M — 22 May 2009
This is a great film. If you want to know what it's like for Manny Ramirez, Pedro Martinez, David Ortiz or any other Spanish speaking Latino baseball player trying to be successful in a sport they truly love and see as the only ticket to avoid life long poverty, then you will appreciate this film.
You can almost taste the dusty baseball field from the audience. You can feel the isolation of being in a foreign country where you don't speak the native language. If you don't respect and appreciate these players and what they have accomplished after seeing this incredible film, then you simply don't get it or refuse to open your mind.
