Directed by Sarah Gavron, written by Abi Morgan and portrayed by a stellar female ensemble cast led by Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter and Meryl Streep, this historical drama about the juggernaut of working-class women for a reform of the suffrage marshalled by Emmeline Pankhurst and the martyrization of Emily Wilding Davison at the Derby is a feministic cinematic tour de force and a grievous testimonial that the movement for gender equality remains urgently relevant.
