Review of Suffragette (2015) by Terry F — 17 Oct 2015
Suffragette is both a film and a political tract. As a film it completely delivers what it intends which is to educate women on the history of their delivery from a kind of deep oppression that is still going on in certain countries.
It also delivers to sympathetic men something of the same because if the individual should reflect, they would realise that own ability to vote was also hard won. It is also deeply moving because we all know what it is to suffer and to sacrifice - if you the reader do not know - try it, it'll hollow you out and make you wise.
As a political tract it talks about so far un-won causes - the fact of our corporate destruction of the world which will take good men and women to do deeds and not words. This is an important film because it speaks about an issue clearly.
It would be good to see many more films like this that have a degree of reality about them.
