Review of Suffragette (2015) by Richard F — 26 Feb 2016
This is a good telling of the story of the radicalisation of a woman from the East End of London from obedient wife and mother to bomber in the cause of the suffragettes.
It doesn't try too hard for complexity but does a wonderful job of simply dropping the make characters when they are no longer relevant.
The acting is very good and, if the major set piece towards the end is predictable if you know your history, then the realisation that full female voting came in within living memory is enough to make you think in these days of ever more clamorous right wing extremism.
