Review of Suddenly, Last Summer (2013) by Noel K — 19 Oct 2009
This movie is about dialogue and delivery, poetically adapted by Gore Vidal & Tennessee Williams from the play by Williams. The last 30 minutes really builds up well and keeps you on the edge with anticipation.
You can see how the 'Hollywood Code' interferes with the storytelling towards the end. The best acting IMHO is by Katharine Hepburn and Mercedes McCambridge who plays Mrs. Holly. Liz Taylor's performance is over the top and over rated.
Williams was right in stating that Taylor was miscast.
