Review of Suddenly, Last Summer (2013) by Thomas M — 06 Dec 2012
Suddenly, Last Summer is a superb and terrifying film, that unfortunately seems to be a bit underrated. This film has a great plot with many twists and turns, and also has a wonderful cast, especially with the ever-so-great Katharine Hepburn playing the menacing Violet Venable, who I think is one of the most frightening characters ever portrayed in a film.
Elizabeth Taylor is also spectacular in her role as a mental patient with stories no one will believe. The climax of the film is harrowing and very intense, and one of the memorable climaxes I've seen in awhile.
This film is scary as hell, superbly acted, brilliantly written, and also insightful with its thoughts about the cruelties of life. See it now if you get the chance to.
