Review of Suddenly, Last Summer (1959) by David D — 30 Jul 2007
Censorious times and unfortunate circumstances conspired to turn Tennessee Williams' Southern gothic into a high camp classic. Mother Hepburn wants doctor Clift to perform a lobotomy on daughter Taylor (too late, it seems) so that she won't be able to tell the family secret.
If I told you what it was, it wouldn't be a secret anymore--and I'd be depriving you of some melodramatic hilarity.
