Review of Sudden Impact (1983) by Gianni V — 10 Nov 2009
The first Dirty Harry to be directed by the man himself also happens to be my least favorite. Shame really. I love the first fifteen or so minutes. Lalo Schifrin returns to scoring and rockets the film into the 1980s with a funky opening title sequence.
I dig the â??Go Ahead, Make My Dayâ?? diner bit and the mob wedding speechifying, and I love the new direction of night time action. But the Sondra Locke Dirty Harry mirror-image perp story is boringâ?¦well, Sondra Locke is boring and I hate how Eastwood forces her into all of his films of this period.
Once Harry leaves for the suburbs, I just donâ??t care. And the quick exit of Inspector Horace King is a true bummer. I do like Harryâ??s bulldog Meathead. VF.
