Review of Sucker Punch (2011) by Kazu — 07 Apr 2011

Simply put: Sucker Punch is an opera that replaces singing with epic set pieces that bombard the sences with massive sounds, lights and pure awesomeness! Agreeing with many other critics, the plot can be confusing at times, but once you've wrapped your head around the piece you can really begin to relate with the characters.

The problem with the film, it's biggest problem, the one that every critic has encountered is this: Sucker Punch has been released at a time where the social norm for films is to be tepid, unimaginative and bland.

For such a film to overload the sences with such a mish-mash of special effects, roaring rock soundtrack and action scenes just bucks too strongly from the social norm for people to understand.
