I just watched the movie Sucker Punch for the first time. It was absolutely brilliant how it combine feminist themes with a sci-fi fantasy aesthetic. The unfortunate part is that got horrible ratings because although people enjoyed the well executed fight scenes and beautiful special effects, they thought the movie is hollow and pointless.
Truth is that these people are not well educated enough to have any clue how historically relevant and deeply symbolic the underlying plot truly is. Only well read people should be allowed to engage in cinematic critique.
Just sayin'.
