Review of Sucker Punch (2011) by Heath W — 26 Oct 2012
"Sucker Punch" is a mess. A glorious mess. A genrebending metacommentary on fairytale feminism, the power of creativity and how show business is one tarted up soulsucking whore.
Zack Snyder's directing skills are akin to the characteristics of a shark. If the shark (camera) stops moving, it dies. But while it remains in motion, it cuts a swath of mayhem that is genuinely impressive.
If you want a coherent narrative, you're looking in the wrong place, but in a fantasy setting it hardly matters. The imagery tells the story.
