A young orphaned girl finds herself inside a mental institution that is used a strange metaphor for a brothel. The young women in the institution are subjected to abuse and ridicule. When the orphan, Babydoll, shows up she hatches a plan to escape.

Babydoll dances in order to distract people while her friends gather the things they need to escape. It is important to note that the dance is from Babydoll's perspective, while the guards are watching her dance, she envisions herself going to war.

I think their may be some sort of feminist metaphor at play, but I'm not entirely sure the director was actually that clever. It could very well be that the movie just wants to portray attractive women in short skirts acting violently.

Whatever the case may be the whole thing gets a bit redundant and I found myself losing interest in the fate of Babydoll and her comrades. Sucker Punch is interesting, a bit strange but ultimately it just ends up being a bit boring - which of course is the kiss of death for any movie.
