Review of Sucker Punch (2011) by Anand K — 05 Jan 2014

Making this movie surreal action style, there's a mixed reaction. Not very action pack but original. Emily Browning step dad abuse her and her sister. She took his gun and shot him but also accidentally killed her sister in the room.

She wanted to finish the job but is sadden and left. The step dad had her caught and sent to mental hospital. Oscar Isaac bought her to his brothel. Abbie Cornish is big sister to Jena Malone. She bring Emily tour around the place.

Jena is working in the kitchen and she is pin down by the fat cook. Emily take his knife and point at his throat to free her. Jena says nobody in here will help another like this. Carla Gugino is a doctor and also teacher, teaching the girls to dance.

Emily is stun and refuse to dance. But she have no choice but to do so and she get absorb into her own dream world, where she meet a wise man Scott Glenn. He tell her how to escape for her freedom and she will need map, fire, knife, key and one more mysterious thing.

Emily took her weapons and fight 3 huge samurais. Zap back to reality, she has finish her dance. And its a good dance as well. Emily begin to tell the escape idea to the girls including Vanessa Hudgens and Jamie Chung.

Abbie is skeptical but still join to protect Jena. Abbie tell Oscar that Emily is dancing again and he left his office. She enter and get a copy of the map pasted on the wall. This time, Emily dream world is about the girls stealing a map and fighting German troops.

Next round is to steal fire. Jamie client is a mayor and she manage to steal the lighter. The dream world of Emily is about them fighting a dragon. Oscar saw something fishy about his map. Next is to steal a knife from the cook.

Emily is dancing on table top and Jena seduce him. The dream world mission is to extract a time bomb from a train before it reach the city. In real world, the radio wire get short circuit by the water and it stops.

The cook awaken and drive the knife to Abbie who is trying to steal the knife. Jena go her front to block it and died. In the dream world, Jena jet pack is down and she activate Abbie jet pack so she can escape.

The train exploded in the city. Vanessa appears to be stress and pressure. Carla want her to speak out. Oscar get more info from her and know their plan. He kill Vanessa and Jamie then lock Abbie. When he try to get fresh with Emily, she take the knife stick under the drawer and stab him.

She freed Abbie and start their escape plan. They start a fire and then run out but the final point is guarded. Emily realize the story isn't about her but Abbie. She want her to escape home. Emily distract the guards and Abbie escape.

Oscar make her undergo a procedure to erase the memory. Carla finally couldn't stand his evil doings and call the police to catch him. Abbie nearly can't escape and board the bus. But the driver (Scott) vouch for her and she manage to leave.
