Review of Sucker Punch (2011) by George B — 04 Sep 2014
.....I think this might be the weirdest movie I have ever seen in my life.
Its like if Michael Bay and Stanley Kubrick's love child, wrote and directed a hybrid of Inception, Alice in Wonderland, Black Swan, Sailor Moon, Heavy Metal, The Matrix, and Battlers Not Included.
I still can't tell if I liked it or not. I mean, I don't know if it got a lot of things right or a lot of things wrong.
Or maybe it did both? Is this it? The ultimate paradox? A movie that does everything right but everything wrong seamlessly at the same time?
A movie that creates its own genre while taking from others while being original yet plagiaristic? A film that says so much while not even speaking?
Is it saying something? Does it have a reason to be? Does it need a reason to be?
WHAT ARE YOU!?
