Review of Sucker Punch (2011) by Lauren P — 11 Sep 2013
Although visually stunning and creative, it falls flat on its face when it comes to story. The characters are pretty well drawn even if they're not used to their full potential. The soundtrack does work well to provide atmosphere even if it's a little pervasive at points.
And even though the visuals are great, the action oftentimes becomes too much to the point where you just become numb to it, Though there is good acting in it, it's pretty much overshadowed by the piss-poor story.
I cannot express my disdain for the climax and the ending. It's such a cop out that it took me a while to process that it was a cop out. Plus, when you reflect on the movie, you realize that it's just an empty box with beautiful wrapping and shiny bow.
