Review of Sucker Punch (2011) by Philip C — 12 Sep 2014
This is a great movie. For those "critics" who dislike it? They didn't understand the point. The way I see it, this movie is obviously symbolizing the struggle to get from purgatory to heaven, and yes, it does so in a way that appeals to men. The movie is brilliantly crafted, with what I would call the best shot selection in any movie I've ever watched. Every shot I found interesting and so well thought out. The way Snyder moves the camera is a stroke of genius, and he's earned my respect through this movie. The opening scene alone I would go a length and call a work of art. The music selection also complements the film very nicely. While yes, this movie obviously appeals to men with the young girls in slutty outfits wielding guns and katanas, this movie is definitely well made.
Back to the point made that this movie was made for guys? Yeah, it features attractive girls. But hey, what's wrong with that? You women got your version of this with 300.
