Review of Subway (1985) by Amanda C — 15 Jul 2015
Besson's first and most honest work, far from his later spiritless blockbusters. Back when all that nice fresh originality was not yet lost in too ambitious projects. Subway's scenario might be both simplistic and a bit pointless, but it still possesses a magical energy that illuminates the whole film.
Populated by random but colourful characters - thanks to a five-star cast - driven by upbeat dialogues and ridiculous situations, and basking in a cool and aesthetically beautiful subterranean atmosphere, it all makes for a quite enjoyable moment of cinema.
Let's not forget a very good OST to boot.
