Review of Suburbia (1984) by Tucker M — 16 Apr 2008
The best way to describe this is Dazed and Confused... except in the 90's. Let me say that there is nothing wrong with that. Richard Linklater is one of my favorite writer/directors (although he doesn't write much anymore and didn't write this).
This film is a great example about what I like about his movies. Much like Dazed and Confused and Slacker the movie is more about characters and dialouge than it is about plot. But the characters are brilliant depictions of Generation X.
The main character Jeff is practically my hero now. I had to steal a VHS from my old place of employment to actually see this but I was excited to see that it's coming out on DVD in September so I'm totally going to go out and buy that.
