Review of Submarino (2010) by Tor M — 13 Nov 2016
Nick has a troubled life. He's drinking steadily, living a post-prison life and he knows that he probably will end up behind bars again. His childhood included a drunken mom and his brother. They tried to cope, while also taking care of a baby - they're mother surely couldn't. At her funural he get's in touch with his brother again. Now his story is shown. He's got a kid. His everything for him. Well, him and heroin.
A very bleak and grimy film. Sad stuff indeed. Excellent performances makes sure that the film completely captivates you. The great story building and a fitting atmosphere completes it. Thomas Vinterberg has several great films under his belt and this is another one that is worth your time.
8.5 out of 10 A's.
